Let’s talk home made oatmeal…

Hey kids!  Who wants oatmeal for breakfast?  No one?  Not that just add water pasty stuff.  If you have 15 minutes, you have time for good oatmeal.

I love Bob’s Red Mill products!  When I want something that I know that there is no additives to, I look to Bob’s.  I also like it that they have really good coupons from time to time.  They have two type of oatmeal that I love; their regular rolled oats and their Scottish oatmeal.  The Scottish oatmeal cooks up much thicker and a little faster, so I like to use those on cold weekend mornings.  Today, let’s make oatmeal with the regular rolled oats!

Recipe:

2 cups water

1 cup oatmeal

pinch of salt

Stir together in a pot and cook on medium to low heat until oats are tender, about 15 minutes.  If is starts to get to thick, just stir in a little hot water to thin it back out.

This makes two nice sized bowls of tastiness.  Easy!

A fine way to start of the day with some good old-fashioned oatmeal.  Poppy approved!

Come on in and take a peek!

So here’s the deal.  I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the old way of doing things.  I feel like I was one the few kids when growing up learned the “slow way” or “old fashioned way” of doing things just in case we got knocked back to pioneer times.  Paranoid? Perhaps.  Old soul longing for the good olde days?  I prefer to think that is the case.

My friend Megan says, “If you don’t see what you like on blogs, do it yourself”, and so I shall.  Pioneer Girls Adventure Club is just that.  So stay tuned and I hope to entertain you, give you a chuckle every now and then and we can learn some things together.
